3 ways private detectives can help with matrimonial issues

by Josef Kafka

It's no secret that divorce rates are on the rise in the UK. In fact, the ONS (the Office for National Statistics in the United Kingdom) now estimates that over 40% of marriages will end in divorce (http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2010/jan/28/divorce-rates-marriage-ons), which makes Britain's divorce rate the highest of all the countries in the European Union (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-52829/Britain-highest-divorce-rate-EU.html). In 2012, there were on average 13 divorces finalised every hour in the United Kingdom, and 65% of all divorces that were requested were granted. These statistics confirm for us that divorce rates are most certainly on the rise, which demonstrates that we need to be more vigilant about marriage than ever before.

So what can you do? It's hard to manage a situation where you feel your husband or wife is acting suspiciously, especially if you love and care for that person. It's difficult to involve your family and friends, too, as you don't want to damage their emotional wellbeing by complicating them in your issues. So, do you question your partner on suspicion alone? Is it just you being paranoid? How would you go about getting evidence to support your claims? This is where a private investigator comes in. As private detectives, we offer a number of different matrimonial services which could help keep your marriage going. Here's a bit more about three of the matrimonial services we offer, starting with surveillance.

Surveillance

Surveillance is a key aspect of many of the services that private detectives provide. In terms of matrimonial services, it is mainly used to watch the suspected party, and find out what they are up to. Private detectives are able to use a wide range of different surveillance methods, the most famous of which is called covert surveillance, which involves secretly tailing the suspect and following their movements. However, advancements in technology now mean that suspects can be watched using remote surveillance, which is where a camera is planted and then watched remotely from a different location, simply by using a computer and the required software package. This means it can also be recorded, should it need to be used as evidence when going through the process of a divorce.

Tracing

In many modern marital investigations, the suspected or guilty party will flee the area, either to stay with friends and family, or in a hotel. Whether you are not sure where your spouse is, or you have an idea where they might have gone, private detectives will be able to trace them for you using a wide range of tracing methods. Initially, tracing involves monitoring internet, social media, and telephone history and activity, as well tracking the vehicle that your partner may have used. Detectives can also call on family, friends, and co-workers to try and get an idea of where your spouse may have escaped to.

Additionally, many of our private detectives have great contacts in law enforcement, and so are able to use a wide range of resources and networks to trace the missing person. Throughout the tracing process, our private detectives make sure to keep your identity completely confidential, and ensure that the investigation is conducted with the utmost discretion. The relationship between the detective and the client is based on trust, and ensuring that this trust is not violated is a key part of the investigation process.

Genealogy

Before you enter any legal agreement, like buying a home or signing a business contract, you will do your research. You would probably check up on the business or person that you're entering into the contract with, and seek advice from a lawyer of person in the know – so why shouldn't it be the same when you're getting married? After all, at it's core, marriage is a legal contract between two people. Before you get married, you will probably want to know more about your prospective spouse by answering questions like 'are they who they say they are?', 'what's their family history?', 'is there anything in their past that they've hidden from me?'. These are the kind of questions that private detectives will be able to answer for you by researching the history and genealogy of your partner. This service will give you a clearer picture of who your partner really is, and how far they are from the person they claim to be.

If you are worried about what your husband or wife may be doing when you're not around, or have suspicions about the fidelity of your partner, we can help.
